MURPHYSBORO, IL – U.S. Representative Mike Bost (IL-12) today announced that the Council of Prison Locals C-33 has endorsed his reelection campaign. Council of Prison Locals C-33, a part of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), represents more than 30,000 bargaining unit employees in the United States. The Council is comprised of workers in virtually all levels of the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
“Congressman Bost has showed up when it counted, visiting FCI Greenville and USP Marion to see the important work we do and hear firsthand from us about the issues we face, including staffing cuts, augmentation, and proposed cuts to our pay and retirement benefits,” said Shane Fausey, National President of the Council of Prison Locals. “Congressman Bost has had our back, and we want him to know that we have his. In these tough political times, Congressman Bost has been a constant voice for our members, their safety, and their families. For this reason, our Council proudly stands with Congressman Bost and pledges to him the full support of the Council.”
“I’m honored to have the support of the Council of Prison Locals,” said Bost. “The work of our Southern Illinois correctional officers is vitally important, and I will continue fighting to ensure they have the resources they need to safely do their jobs.”
