{"id":810,"date":"2020-10-14T17:04:39","date_gmt":"2020-10-14T22:04:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bostforcongress.com\/?p=810"},"modified":"2022-01-18T15:10:46","modified_gmt":"2022-01-18T21:10:46","slug":"united-mine-workers-endorse-bost","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bostforcongress.com\/?p=810","title":{"rendered":"United Mine Workers Endorse Bost"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>MURPHYSBORO, IL<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;U.S. Representative Mike Bost (IL-12) was joined by Bernie Harsy, president of United Mine Workers Local 1825, to announce that Bost\u2019s re-election campaign has been endorsed by the United Mine Workers of America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cFor many years, the United Mine Workers of America struggled to get legislation passed to guarantee health care and pensions for all UMWA pensioners and surviving spouses,\u201d<\/em><strong>said Bernie Harsy<\/strong><em>. \u201cWithout this legislation, thousands of pensioners and surviving spouses would have lost their pensions and health care due to over 50 coal companies filing for bankruptcy over a period of several years. Congressman Bost played a major role in getting this legislation passed. The United Mine Workers of America would like to thank you for all this hard work and support in getting this legislation passed in December of 2019. Now, no pensioner or surviving spouse will have the threat of losing their health care or pension. The United Mine Workers of America proudly endorse Congressman Bost for the House of Representatives in the Illinois\u2019 12<sup>th<\/sup>Congressional District.\u201d<\/em><em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&nbsp;\u201cMy grandfather was a United Mine Workers union rep,\u201d&nbsp;<\/em><strong>said Bost.<\/strong><em>\u201cMining is in my blood.
